Swing into the new term with our Big Band taster session.

This is a great opportunity to meet new friends, get a feel for playing in our Big Band, and find out more about extra-curricular musical opportunities.

If you can read music to Grade 6 standard, join current band members to play through a selection of Jazz, Swing, Latin and Funk.

Please bring your instrument to the session. If you would like to join this session but don’t have your instrument with you, contact us as we may be able to provide you with one.

This event is part of NTU Arts – the University’s extra-curricular arts programme. No need to book, just drop in!

Student tips

Thoughts and advice from current students on your first few days with us.

100% attend your course induction week and lessons. This is a great opportunity to meet your lecturers who are going to be teaching you and the students who you will potentially spend the next 3 years with. Also just to get a taste of the modules that you will be doing and what support the University offers you when you need it.

You will be nervous, and it probably will be slightly awkward at first, but don’t let it stop you from going to places alone, you will meet people and they may turn out to be your best friend!
