Mature Student Picnic

Event info

  • 19th September 2026
  • 12:00
  • City Campus
  • This event is free

Looking to connect with other mature students at NTU?

You’re warmly invited to join us for a relaxed picnic at the Arboretum, where good conversation, fresh air, and friendly faces are on the agenda.

NTU is home to a vibrant community of mature students, and this is a great opportunity to meet others, get to know our Mature Student Ambassadors, and build your support network as term begins.

Please bring your own picnic, along with anything else you need to enjoy an afternoon outdoors.

We’ll be meeting at the Newton Building Steps before walking over to the Arboretum together with our Student Ambassadors.

Prefer to join us there? No problem – just look out for the ambassadors in their bright pink NTU t-shirts and they’ll help you find the group. Whether you’d like to bring your children, partner, family members, or come by yourself and meet some new people, you’re very welcome. We know that many mature students balance study with family life, so children are encouraged to come along too – the more the merrier! If you’re attending on your own, you’ll find a friendly and welcoming group ready to help you make connections.

Feel free to stay for as long – or as little – as you like. No pressure, just a friendly atmosphere and the chance to make some new connections.

Any questions? Feel free to get in touch!

Student tips

Thoughts and advice from current students on your first few days with us.

My most important message is never feel alone! The University and Students’ Union have amazing help and support teams. We have students that run events, meetings and socials for mature students and students with caring responsibilities. A worry shared is a worry solved, and talking to other mature students and student parents during Welcome Week really made a big difference for me.
